KeymasterI could but would be better to fix access to the page as there are many other mods there. Try the link now, it should work. Changed the status of that board from “Hidden” to “Private”, so now only logged in users should see it.

KeymasterQuite the request – the classic Wu Mod from fallout. Not a lot changed on here other than the characters :). But there is something to be said for the simplicity of those old mods.
By the way we still have the Lordyuanshu mod page open. You have to be logged in to be able to see it. The Wu Mod is on here as are a bunch of others. I should get those Japanese ones you sent on there too.

KeymasterThanks for sending these over, I appreciate it! Wish I knew Japanese – I have the menus memorized but no idea what items I am getting from treasure chests or who the generals are (other than the obvious ones like Lu Bu, Diao Chan, Guan Yu, etc). Played the DoaE 2 Wang Yun mod for a bit – got wiped out in the field against some generals with 1700 soldiers (I’m at 200) and then the first boss fight is against Guan Yu – Zhang Fei – Liu Bei :).
Lu Bu looking mint – looks to be a custom avatar unless this is from a game I haven’t played

Diao Chan, what a babe

Welp, bout to get my ass whooped.

KeymasterThanks for thinking of me Cao Zhang. So these are DoaE 1 mods? Feel free to post links here or email them to me lordyuanshu at gmail

KeymasterYea looks like I’ll have to use up Smoke Pots on my way to Utah to wake him up. That’s longer than getting through the Wei cave. What’s up brother? Good to see you around.

KeymasterThanks for the post Cao Zhang. Neat channel there at toutousama.
Lu Bu with the DoaE 1 sprite, cool new avatar too. Looks like everyone’s stats are maxed at 255 pretty much. I remember years ago when the forum started, back in like 2006, and a fellow named Samuel on this forum posted about all the DoaE 2 hacks out there. Keep in mind this was years before we ever got into hacking DoaE with the DoaE Editor.

KeymasterGood to see you Stallion Fury, hope you have been doing well. You were one of the younger guys when you joined but now are getting old just like the rest of us.
You like the new site? Looks a bit different than when you were last here four years ago (although if you’ve been lurking you’ve likely noticed the change earlier).
Things are good with me; busy with work and family as I have been for the last several years. Haven’t been affected by Covid too much thankfully. Haven’t been doing much on this site but glad to have it improved earlier in 202. Miss the days when the forum was hopping and there was DoaE action left and right. I still need to make time to go through some of the newer DoaE mods like the Boneduke one as well as Penguin/MiDKnighT ones from 5+ years back.

KeymasterFinished this mod up over the weekend. Some more thoughts:

The soldier levels for the Tiger Generals is interesting in this one. Zhang Fei actually has a really low level of soldiers and combined with his weak INT, he is almost worth benching when you get Pang Tong (150 STR 245 INT) and Huang Zhong. When he leaves it is definitely best to not get Zhang Bao, who is 235 STR 120 INT. Even Guan Xing at 230 STR 160 INT I wish I skipped just for the roster flexibility (then realized I could put him in billetting in this one, so probably could for Zhang Bao too). Most of these guys are still using their DoaE 2 avatars (with DoaE 1 sprites). Zhuge Liang and Zhao Yun with the DoaE 3 avatars though. Zhuge Liang has a huge lead in soldier total at 5229 at level 31. Guan Xing, Zhao Yun and Ma Chao are at 4170 and Pang Tong at 4104.
Didn’t realize I got An Sha as it is not in the bottom-right corner but rather bottom left. Tactics are still way overpowered yet cost so little to use (An Sha at 8 TP in this one).
Used Zhang Ren for quite a bit. Fixed soldier level of ~3200 or so but actually has slightly better stats than Ma Dai (same STR but better INT and soldiers).
Like that Qing Long in the Wu cave is 190 STR instead of 240. Makes that less over-powered. Bo Ye, the one you find in the bush, is at 240. Halberd at 250 and actually the spot you find the Qing Guang in that last Wei cave is a 255 AP weapon.

Last Wu battle is cool – instead of just Tai Si Ci and Lu Sun it is those two along with Lu Meng and Lu Su. Probably Zhou Yu but I had recruited him by that point.

Recruited Lu Sun after – definitely one of the best guys in this game. DoaE 3 avatar. Probably was the top recruit in the original DoaE too even though he had the fixed 11,200 or so soldiers.

Found this dude roaming Wei. Not at any gate battles. Tough to beat with these stats – anyone who can read Japanese know who this is? Guessing it’s someone like Zuo Ci

Last battle of the game. Not sure who all these guys are though I think the middle one on their side is Xu Huang. Wasn’t terribly difficult. Notice how low my soldier counts are. My group is at level 41. It gets super hard to gain levels toward the end.
Roamed around a bit after and found Sima Yi, Sima Shi and Sima Zhao on the field and recruited them all. Didn’t end up finding Lu Bu, Yuan Shu, Dong Zhuo, Zhang Jao, etc. But didn’t try too hard. Wasn’t sure whether they would be in Wei or in their respective areas after the game was beaten.
Overall a pretty fun mod of DoaE. Bit too easy but some cool features being able to recruit so many guys and having them have soldier increases. Wish I knew Japanese to understand the text changes they made.

KeymasterStarted this hack. Looks like DoaE 2 and 3 pics for avatars. Not bad but the white avatar backgrounds get boring. Sprites about the same but some small changes (DoaE 1 sprites only so far).
Looks like all the tactics hit everyone – Lian Huo, Ye Huo, Chi Xin, etc. This is making the game WAY too easy as you can spam these with any decent tactician to clear out battles (plus the tactics cost the same so there is no reason not to). Yan Re which always hit everyone is even more powerful – takes off 300-400. These fire tactics are breaking the game.
Not sure who all the guys are that you get initially. The Song Ren/Song Yong spots are definitely upgrades over those two legendary blokes. I have three weak tacticians that are extremely similar. 65 Str 185 Int (Song Ren spot), 85 Str 205 Int (Chen Deng), 65 Str 195 Int (Mi Zhu). The Yang Jin, Huo Hu, Wang Gui and Zhou Chao spots are empty – no character shows up there. Did get Zhou Cang though.
Forgot how much fun equipment is when you don’t know the language. Thank goodness for save states and the game using the same Gold value as the original (and my DoaE awesomeness in memorizing Bandana is 50 Gold, Leather is 300 Gold, etc).
I was able to recruit Zhang Bao and Zhang Liang but can’t find Zhang Jao anywhere on the map. Got tired of trying to find him so just moved on. Same with Dong Zhuo. Beat him at Chang An and looked for him for a bit and didn’t find him (using speedup too so cruising through battles and saw just about every other general). These guys must be available at the very end?
Burned through Lu Bu and Li Ru easily. Was nice to see Dong Zhuo with better stats (and tactics!). Alas he was no match for my Ye Huo spamming squad. Yuan Shu’s area was cake. Even the tough Ji Zhou and Jing Zhuo battles (Yuan Shao and Han Xuan) were over in a few turns thanks to Yan Re.
Yuan Shu got a downgrade; DoaE 3 avatar isn’t as badass either but a bit more nefarious.

Zhao Yun with the DoaE 3 avatar as well.

Rolling on along. This is Ji Ling and Zhang Xun. Zhang Xun is much worse – 140 Str 140 Int. Smarter at least. Ji Ling is 210 Str 80 Int so was using him for a bit

KeymasterTell us more about the asian modding sites as you have time, Cao Zhang.
Zhuge, sometimes I go through the old threads to see the funny conversations we once had in our young days. Your English was in a development stage maybe but your excitement for DoaE was clear. Plus, you found the ZengZong Saber in DoaE2 which earned you infinite DoaE cred. I am proud to have this awesome DoaE setup that brought people together from all over the world to celebrate and enjoy DoaE. You are right that many who have come before may not be back but I would bet some days they think of lordyuanshu.com and DoaE and it brings them a smile or laugh.

KeymasterSounds about right. Post a link if you found it somewhere. I remember hearing there are a ton of Japanese DoaE 1 hacks years ago. Wonder if they’re as complex as the newer stuff from sonic, boneduke, etc.

KeymasterZhang Lu! Good to see you. Still throwing fireballs out of your Sword I hope.
This is a DoaE 1 or 2 hack? Was it in English? I’m assuming it’s DoaE1 given the names listed.

Keymaster

Some quick edits in January 2020.
Added a few hours of gameplay from the last version and cleaned some text/balancing issues up.
Some errors exist:
-When you enter/exit Luo Yang, you get dumped south of it. So be sure you are ready to fight the battle there, or be willing to have your party get wiped out to get back (or Gullwing).
-Disappearing characters. The characters set up in the Wang Gui/Zhou Chao/Zhou Cang/Xu Zhe positions aren’t showing up. Not sure why. Not really a game-breaking thing at this point given you can get as far as the mod goes without needing any of them. But the gate battle after Luo Yang uses two character that show up on the Song Yong/Song Ren position and there is a good chance they don’t show up for the gate battle for some reason (thus the battle ends up being against three rebel forces instead).
