KeymasterGood call Grundy. I recall the Sword in front of Pang Tong in Ling Ling sometimes isn’t there. That’s the only one off-hand that I can recall as missing occasionally, is that the one you were thinking of?
I guess even if it isn’t perfect we still gotta give them credit – it was the late 80’s when they made it and all of our rad DoaE programmers spent countless hours fixing their rare errors anyway.

KeymasterGood stuff here. I do recall that anytime Wang Gui was missing, Zhou Chao was too. Makes sense in a way, like the game realizes you’re not interested in these generic warlords so they figure if you skip one you don’t need the others. That said, I almost always recruit Yang Jin in my playthroughs just because up to that point there isn’t much better even if you use him for only a bit. Is that the only requirement for the Wang Gui spot to be there, to recruit Yang Jin? The guide doesn’t really specify, it just gives the code to add to fix the problem.
Oh and you refer to it as “Zhou Cang” on the guide you linked – should change that to Zhou Chao. I don’t think the Zhou Cang spot is ever missing. Gotta love those generic, made-up DoaE guys.

KeymasterWith Boneduke just focusing on map updates he can do tricky stuff like that. Zeckt, now that you are a member here you have access to all the DoaE mods, just head to this LYS downloads page to find them (have to be logged in for the link to work).
MiDKnighT, I asked it a bit ago but did we ever figure out why Wang Gui/Zhou Chao in the original DoaE are sometimes not in their spots in Luo Yang and Chang An respectively?

KeymasterGood info here. Hopefully more folks heed this advice for future mods and can collaborate. Boneduke is clearly the resident map master. Imagine the amount of hours Sonic spent – pretty sure he is a teacher and would spend summers doing these? A commendable sacrifice for the DoaE community. I sometimes wonder about the original DoaE developers and whether they are aware of all the stuff that has been done with it. Would have to think they’d be proud

KeymasterRegarding Zhouyu Renming – is he in the Zhou Chao or Wang Gui spot? I’m sure you hardcores know but in the original, Zhou Chao is the random guy you get in Chang An and Wang Gui in Luo Yang. Did we ever figure out why those guys sometimes aren’t in their spots? They are the only ones I can think of in the original DoaE that are randomly gone sometimes. Oh and along with Guo Ji (aka Guo Si) at the second gate before Luo Yang who gets deleted if you push B when choosing commands in any battle prior to encountering his gate.
MiDKnighT, I got the 8/25 revision updated for the download link on the ROMs page.

KeymasterNiahak messaged me the other day so I’m sure if we have a viable update for DoaEd he’d be happy to update his link on there also.

KeymasterMiDKnighT, thanks for sending the Flames of Wu mod. I got that updated on the Rom page now, so you can grab it there Grundy. Looking through the Flames of Wu thread, it looked like you had played it already? Those old threads have so many broken pics thanks to img shack accounts going dormant.
As for Yuan Shao Mod 2.0, where do you see that? Yuan Shao 3.0 is at the top of the roms list since it is the newest (and probably the coolest). I kept the old Yuan Shao mod which I believe is version 1.0 at the bottom when it was initially released just in case anyone wanted to see it.

KeymasterAs I was looking through the download links I was wondering about DoaEd. Seems we link to Niahak’s place for the newest DoaEd – you must have a way to update the version there or do you just send him the updated version?

KeymasterGrundy, thanks for pointing this out. Reminds me I need to clean that rom page up. For now check it again as I have updated the link for Ieyasu so you can download that one. I found a Wu mod but it’s the old one from fallout back when all we changed was the generals :). If anyone has a current Flames of Wu rom and can provide a link or email it to me I will get that up also.

KeymasterYour work never ends MiDKnighT. I am still toiling away in the Yellow Turban area so will get the new rom.
Wondering is it good practice to download the new rom and play off an existing save state for the older version of it, given that I’m not that far? Or best to start anew to make sure nothing is messed?
Nice job on all of this, it is looking slick

KeymasterReally proud of you guys for all the hard work put into this one. All the big DoaE fans have 8/12/2022 circled on their calendar now.

KeymasterSonic doesn’t remember exactly what to do from where you are at but here are his words of encouragement:
Ill be honest, I haven’t messed with that rom in years so I really couldn’t say without playing it again. There are many optional pathways to take if I remember so it is possible to stumble into an area that is far beyond your current level. Sorry, I forgot! Good luck.

KeymasterHi Phaxuji,
Thanks for the post and glad you are enjoying Rise of Ieyasu! I have sent out a gullwing to the creator of the mod, Sonic Penguin, in hopes that he can answer this question for you. Hope to have you info for you soon.
Also on the note about a walkthrough/documentation, that is a good point and MiDKnighT is doing a walkthrough for his updated Yuan Shao mod, so you will want to look for that one once it is released.

KeymasterThanks for joining up and posting Captain Ken Earl! This is a all-time thread to revive too, about that fire-ball wielding genius from Han Zhong. Zhang Lu in fact it might be the best part of the hips and tits section of the site.
You can use the Zheng Letter trick on many DoaE2 throne rooms to acquire guys like Xiahuou Dun, Pang Tong, Lu Bu, and Yang Huai a million times. But be careful, sometimes it will result in NPC’s not being where they are supposed to on the map, resulting in you not being able to continue the quest.
